Semarang, Undip — In an effort to promote science-based environmental solutions, the Graduate School of Diponegoro University (Undip) organized a workshop themed “Sustainable Waste Management Technology: Learning from Germany for Future Direction in Indonesia” on Monday, April 20, 2026. The event was held at the Main Session Room, Building A, 1st Floor, Undip Graduate School, Pleburan Campus, Semarang.
The workshop was designed to examine advancements in waste treatment technology in Germany and explore opportunities for its adaptation to local conditions in Indonesia. The event was opened virtually by Undip Rector, Suharnomo, who conveyed a strong message on the importance of knowledge transfer and international technical cooperation.
“Waste management technology is not merely a matter of infrastructure — it is also about strategic collaboration. Germany’s experience serves as an important reference for us,” said Suharnomo in his opening remarks.
The core presentations were delivered by representatives of German industry firm INTEC Energies GmbH, through speakers Andreas Krüger and Hans Detample. Both provided an in-depth discussion of innovations in environmentally friendly waste-to-energy conversion technology. The presentations were followed by a question-and-answer session moderated by Trigo Neo Starden of PT Tribaliv Green Solutions.
On the regulatory and implementation front, the Central Java Provincial Government was represented by the Head of the Environmental and Forestry Agency (DLHK) of Central Java Province, Widi Hartanto, who outlined strategies for adapting the technology across the Central Java region.
A number of regional delegates attended the workshop with great enthusiasm. Among them were the Deputy Regent of Kebumen, Zaeni Miftah, who was present in person, and the Regent of Pemalang, Anom Widiyantoro, who participated virtually. The attendance of these public officials is expected to accelerate the implementation of waste management technology down to the regional level.
